What is thought ?

Thought or thinking is only a sensation which we have got used to, because it gives a sense of existence ! But after directly seeing the limits of thought or thinking or limits of mental life, we discover Pure Consciousness as our Real Existent Self, then we can gradually abandon the seeking of existence through thought and settle as the Real Existent, Consciousness, Blissful Self ! Then, at last, after eons of struggle, one is free from the prison of thought !

Atma and anatma

When you perceive an object, person etc losing touch with the fact that it exists only in your conciousness, then you have created an anatma out of it. This way you are making the Universe independently real and yourself as an isolated entity in it and you eternally seek the other.

But when you perceive that very same object or person without losing touch with the fact that it exists only in your consciousness, then you see it only as a superposition on your atma. This way you see that the reality of the Universe is non-different from your own Reality and hence there is no seeking the other !

.

Why experience is not the Truth !

You experience mind and body as thoughts and sensations in waking and dream and the absence of body and mind as in sleep and samadhi ! Now you possess contradictory knowledge of yourselves as with mind/body and without mind/body. How are you going to find out what you are? No further experience can resolve this contradiction. Only through intelligent enquiry or viveka can you find out that you are the Pure Knower and have nothing to do with the experiencer or the experienced !

Just like only an intelligent enquiry and testing can reveal to you if something is a rope or a snake, likewise only an intelligent enquiry and testing can reveal to you that you are the Unchanging Pure Consciousness and have nothing to do with the phenomenon or the domain of experience. This indeed is moksha the great liberation from the trammels of experience !

That happiness which you seek through experience is only a snapshot of your Real Self, even if it be the experience of your Real Self which you seek through yoga ! At some point in life you need to give up seeking of security, happiness, peace and silence through experience and instead seek the Truth of all experiences and you will very quickly find out that your Real Self is the ultimate reality, the substratum of all experience, happiness silence, peace etc and thereby the burden of seeking a better state will at last come to end ! Thereafter it is an effortless and eternal life suffused in the ecstasy of the Real Self !
